Sliding Glass System for Chichester Yacht Club

The brief:

Nestled on the banks of Chichester Marina, Chichester Yacht Club is in the enviable position where they can offer their members and visitors a place to relax while enjoying the spectacular views across the water.

However, the club owner believed they weren’t making the most of their beautiful location as guests could really only sit outside when the weather permitted which, as the British weather is somewhat unpredictable, isn’t as often as we’d like. It was with this problem that the owner of the yacht club asked Broadview to resolve.

The Broadview Solution:

After an initial discussion with the club’s owner, Broadview approached this exciting project by conducting a site survey to establish how we could make the most of the available space and fantastic views.

We suggested installing a louvred-roof structure with a sliding glass system. The pergola was chosen as it offers a versatile seating area for extra covers while the sliding glass provides effective protection from the elements without interrupting that stunning vista. So, when the sun is shining, the panes of the clever sliding glass system can be completely opened to give customers that all-important al-fresco experience.

When the sky clouds over and the weather turns colder, the panels can be pushed back into place to create a cosy, enclosed area without ugly frames interrupting the view over the water. Chichester Yacht Club also opted to add remote control lighting and integrated 2.3Kw heaters to give their members a really luxurious experience all year round.

The Result:

Chichester Yacht Club and its members are delighted with the result of the combination of pergola and sliding glass system. The club has benefitted from a versatile space that’s perfect for additional covers and events all year round while its members and guests can enjoy the uninterrupted views of the harbour no matter the weather.

The innovative sliding glass provides complete control over ventilation and shelter and, what’s more, the glass panels are specially toughened and fully lockable to ensure the safety of the premises.
